By John KingESPN.comThe biggest question about the upcoming season is whether the Cowboys are going to be able to hold up defensively in their home opener against New Mexico State.
While defensive coordinator Vance Bedford has said the team will do everything possible to help the Cowboys, there is no question the unit is struggling to hold on to the ball against the Cowboys.
The Cowboys rank 28th nationally in sacks (11), 29th in yards per game allowed (31.7) and 26th in passing yards allowed (5,732).
They rank 31st in yards allowed per game and 28th in points allowed per contest.
It should come as no surprise to see that the unit has struggled in the Dome.
The unit has allowed an average of 7.1 points per game since 2012, when the Cowboys lost to Florida in the Fiesta Bowl.
The unit allowed 3.5 sacks per game between 2013 and 2015.
The problem for the Cowboys is that while they may be struggling defensively, the unit hasn’t been as bad in recent years.
The Cowboys were 4-8 last season and 7-6 in the regular season.
The defense was good enough to win the AFC West, the NFC West and the division.
But the unit was terrible in the playoffs, as the unit surrendered an average 26.9 points per contest and 547 yards per contest, both worst in the NFL.
The defensive line has been in trouble for years.
In 2012, the Cowboys finished with the second-worst defensive line in the league.
Last season, they finished dead last, allowing the third-most points in the conference.
In 2015, the defense ranked dead last in the NFC and the Cowboys ranked 23rd nationally.
The 2016 unit ranked 22nd nationally.
There are many reasons why the Cowboys may be unable to stay competitive this season.
It is clear the unit needs to improve.
There is no doubt the unit struggled to stay healthy.
But there are also many other things that need to improve as well.
Defensive coordinator Vance “Big Daddy” Bedford has a reputation for making his team better with a little help from his assistants.
Bedford made some tweaks to the Cowboys’ scheme during his time at Tennessee.
He has done a good job of improving his defensive line and they need to continue to improve if the Cowboys want to stay relevant in the AFC South.
The team has a solid secondary, especially in the secondary, but the unit doesn’t have the best cornerback group in the nation.
The team is ranked 18th nationally and has a top-12 secondary in the country in nearly every pass defense category.
The safeties are a bit better than the other cornerback groups in the ACC.
But they don’t do much against the run and are often vulnerable to the pass.
One of the big questions about the Cowboys offense this season is which receivers are capable of putting up big numbers.
There have been multiple reports over the past couple weeks that the team is considering using wide receiver Demarcus Ayers as a target.
It seems unlikely that the Cowboys will go with an established wideout this season, especially when there is uncertainty over who will start opposite Dez Bryant.
The defense has a good defense, but they have struggled to hold onto the ball.
This is particularly true in the red zone, where the Cowboys rank 31rd nationally in total defense.
The defensive unit has the second most points allowed in the AAC, but it has been a problem for them.
The offense has been inconsistent and there has been some talk that the offense is not as good as expected.
But for the most part, the offense has struggled to consistently score points.
The biggest concern for the defense is that they have the worst offensive line in this year’s draft class.
The offensive line has struggled as the Cowboys have struggled with the defense.
They have allowed 7.9 sacks per contest over the last two seasons and that is only the fifth-worst in the Big 12.
They are tied for 27th nationally with a sack per game average of 3.6.
They rank 29th nationally against the pass and 31st nationally against rush.
The secondary has a lot of talent on this team, but not many receivers have been able to step up and play in the position.
There are several receivers with size and speed, but none of them has been able for them to consistently produce in the passing game.
They need to find a way to score points, but that will likely be difficult because the Cowboys don’t have much of a rushing attack to start the season.
The offense has a chance to be better, but a lack of production from receivers and a lack in efficiency could limit the team’s chances.
The offensive line and defense are good enough that the defense has enough talent on it to get the job done.
The Dallas offense should be good enough and the defense can be a bit worse.
