SOUTH FLORIDA — Staten Island will advance to the WAC title game for the third straight season, and the Seminoles will have a chance to make the NCAA tournament after reaching the final two games of the season.
South Florida will play in the WBC championship game on March 14 in Las Vegas.
The Seminoles also will play at Arizona State.
The game is set for 4 p.m.
(ET) on ESPN2 and will air on ABC News Channel.
The Sun Devils will host Stetson at 5 p.s.m., and the Cardinals will host UC Irvine.
Florida State will open its conference schedule March 13 at Georgia Tech and then face Virginia Tech, at 9:30 p., before moving on to home-and-home against UC Davis and then Virginia Tech.
FSU has been in the tournament since 2005, and has not made the NCAA final.
The Panthers will play the winner of South Carolina and Tennessee’s NCAA Tournament matchups on March 10 in Durham, North Carolina.
Virginia is one of the most popular programs in college basketball, with an average attendance of more than 4 million per game.
The Cavaliers have won 11 of the last 13 WAC titles, and they are undefeated in the conference.
They will host Florida State on March 16, and then host Arizona State on April 2.
Vanderbilt is one season removed from a national championship and will host Miami in a rematch of the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
