As Missouri passes legislation that would allow people to rent out their homes to others for short-term stays, some are asking whether these rentals are actually airbnb rentals.
The Missouri House on Tuesday voted to approve a bill that would let people rent out homes for short periods of time and then return them to their owners for rent.
The bill has drawn criticism from those who say it violates Missouri’s rental law, which allows anyone to rent a home out for up to 60 days per year.
The state Senate approved the bill last month.
But critics of the measure say the bill is likely unconstitutional and should be struck down.
Missouri’s House and Senate are set to take up bills to regulate Airbnb rentals later this month.
